Pokemon Masters first impression/review

Pokemon Masters

The pokemon mobile game

By Tyler Petrosino.

With 86% battery and some time on my hands and a slow 4G connection, I install the 84.21MB Pokémon game on my phone. It’s sitting on the play store with 4/5 stars at the moment the reviews featured when scrolling down. Are simple one about not being able to play do to maintenance, another saying the visually are appealing but it’s a gacha game and how they Do gems triggered the man, finally is one dude who loves the game *so far* and they offer to  constructive feedback on how to make the gem system better. I’m at 59% now what I’m expecting at least from the reviews is a Gacha game the about this game sections. Boasts about “joining the Pokémon master league with a dream team of past trainers!”  ok that sounds at least cool-ish it’s on an all-new island called Pasio on which theirs a 3-on-3 tournament being held. It looks like you form a trainer team of three and their Pokémon to take on other teams. 92% I’m expecting a Gacha game with trainers as like summons that you have to spend gems to either summon/recruit or upgrade/enhance them it could be fun if there’s a bit a strategy involved, 100%.

After the standard rig a ma roll of EULA’s and date of births and sign in’s it needs to download more things. At a snail’s pace after that ordeal, your greeted by Blue (fartface) who tells you that this gaming is going to be awesome. Then you enter a nickname (drunkenfool) then its some lite character creation skin tone, male-female, eye color, and hair color. You get a Pikachu a skinny, not chunky one that’s disappointing then you register at the front desk where you get a Poryphone. You meet the iconic trainers Brock and Misty and join forces and head outside. There’s a confufully with a punk and a thug annoying some person and the champion Cynthia. You promptly deal with the thugs getting you first look at the battle system. Its real-time no turn order dealio you have to wait for the move gauge to fill some, to use a move some move take more from the move gauge than other moves. The enemy’s Pokémon has their weakness above their heads and you have to switch to the Pokémon of the correct move type to attack. It’s simple but you get the sense there’s more depth to this later on. After defeating the thug and punk you and your new friends level up all the way to level five. After that, the introductions are made.  Cynthia thinks Drunkenfool had real potential. After that, you ask Rosa the other fool with Cynthia to join your PML you defeater and she aggress and you get a dialogue non-choice. You also learn about sync moves and that brock is ripped, A sync move is a move that needs a countdown to use and has a fun animation that plays before it.  OMG she looks like a cat, not Rosa but Professor Bellis a cat professor she’s doing research on sync Pairs and she looks like a cat. Then you’re directed to the shop where you can scout out new team members you get one, they have a miltank. Then you are directed to the not Starbucks at the not Starbucks you can edit your team so far this has all been on rails.

The training wheels are off you can look around freely talking to the other trainers at the Pokémon center. There are two kinds of the quest you can do pair sync quests and main story quests. The pair sync quest seems just be dialogue about friendship and etc.

In conclusion, I’m writing this the next day and many media outlets have already deemed this to be another gacha game. Filled with microtransactions and grind but if you just want a simple battler it’s fine. At worst it’s a mediocre gacha game
